Who I help

A few sectors I know well.

Different businesses need different things. Here's what I do for each, and what you can expect. If yours isn't listed, there's a section for you at the end.

01

Start-ups

The first decisions are the ones that stick. Sole trader or limited company. Which registrations you actually need. How to keep records so the first tax return isn't a shock, and so you never pick up bad habits from a mate's mate's uncle down the pub.

I'll walk you through the options in plain English, set things up properly and give you a simple routine to follow. There's no one size fits all package. I put together a bespoke start-up offer around what you need in year one.

  • Sole trader or limited company, explained
  • HMRC and Companies House registrations
  • Simple records from day one
  • A bespoke start-up offer

02

Property andconstruction

Landlords, developers and trades all live with rules that keep changing. What you can deduct, how mortgage interest is treated, what happens when you sell, CIS deductions and VAT on building work.

I prepare rental accounts and the property pages of your return, keep CIS and VAT straight for contractors and subcontractors, and tell you what's coming before it arrives. If a property company would make sense for you, I'll say so.

  • Rental accounts and property pages
  • CIS for contractors and subcontractors
  • VAT on construction and conversions
  • Capital gains when you sell

03

Entertainmentand talent

Performers, creators, crew and the agents and managers behind them. Income that arrives in lumps, expenses that need explaining and a tax bill that lands when the work has gone quiet.

I keep your records tidy between jobs, claim what you're entitled to and give you a clear number to set aside, so a good year doesn't turn into a bad January.

  • Irregular income planned for
  • Expenses claimed properly
  • Self assessment and company accounts
  • A clear number to set aside

04

Technologyand gaming

Studios, developers, founders and freelancers. Subscription revenue, contractors and platform fees, and numbers that need to make sense to more than one person.

I keep the books clean and prepare accounts and tax returns investors and platforms can read. Numbers you can build on, not a spreadsheet you dread.

  • Clean books and management accounts
  • VAT registration as sales grow
  • Contractors and platform income handled
  • Accounts investors can read

Not onthe list?

Those four are the sectors I know best, but they're not the only ones I work with. I've spent time in general practice too, so most set-ups are familiar ground.

If your business isn't mentioned, get in touch anyway. Tell me what you do and I'll tell you straight whether I'm the right fit.

  • Sole traders and partnerships
  • Limited companies of any kind
  • Landlords and investors
  • Freelancers and contractors

Somewhere in between?

Most businesses are. Tell me about yours and I'll tell you what applies.
